Two lone travelers crossed paths in the dense jungles of Borneo, each carrying a backpack with bandannas, band-aids, toothbrushes and tattered bus passes crammed alongside tales of hazy Laotian dope utopias and ancient shrines reclaimed by virile mangrove roots.
On a tiny travel guitar and a forty dollar violin, they began writing songs about fat, fluidity, and destiny, drawing inspiration from graffiti laden rice paddies and raw pork blood salads, neon hookah smoke and wheezing motorbikes.
With an undying lust for wandering, The Quiet Smiles continues to make organic music that is soft yet rough, mysterious yet bright, curious yet unwavering. They make music for the here and now, the there and then, for oneness, for otherness.
The Quiet Smiles is a promise. A pact. A friendship. A courtship.
The Quiet Smiles is a band.
Welcome!
